  WHO IS QLD. ACADEMY OF  PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT ?

Beginnings: Founded in 1983 by Geoffrey Mackness, the then Director of Success Motivation Institute wanted to establish an avenue available where both the Business and Community could get first-hand professional guidance and expertise without the frills and costs of a highly money-orientated group.

Geoffrey had proved to himself and to his many clientele that personal and caring interaction resulted in very dramatic and unexpected achievements and development. The simple format brought out the hidden genius and skills in people so that they developed a sensitivity and inspiring response to their environment that was permanent in nature. Many achieved national recognition and six figure incomes, and set new records in their respective fields.

THE FOUNDER: Geoffrey Mackness started work at the early age of 8 when in South Johnstone North Queensland. He would walk many miles to a dairy at 4:30am and help in the milk delivery by pouring out the various measures of milk into the waiting household containers. Then, when his own home was reached he would have breakfast and walk the 4 miles to school.

Moving to Sydney he started his own paper run and delivering groceries on the handle-bars of his bike.

From varied careers including apprentice Fitter & Turner to farmer, clerk, branch accountant, Methodist missionary, Presbyterian minister, and painting contractor he turned to the business world where in Marketing he achieved 14 national and 4 international sales records, plus community Awards.

He has a BEc. Dips in Teaching, Psychotherapy & Counseling, Insurance & Finance He studied along the way including a stint in USA where he added a host of Personal Development, Leadership and Executive Diplomas and various Certificates, like TQM and Neuro-linguistics.

He was the most successful and long-running Distributorship for Success Motivation Institute, becoming Director in 1980. He was also Chairman of  Australia Quality Council for 12 ½ years leading CEO's from major Australian Companies as Facilitators in all day Seminars in High Schools, Colleges and Queensland University. He went back from Training into finance to see if his skills were still evident and topped Australia in the industry. He recently for 4 years helped  major Companies trade, resource and set up business in China.

He has been State and National Manager for various Australian Companies.

He is the Author of 5 books and a major Industry Marketing Text Book.

He has been involved for years in Community projects and ran free Community Life Skills Courses in Council Libraries, with free counseling.

RANGE OF SERVICES: Besides Counseling, Personal Trainer, Consulting to Business, there are a Range of Courses and Workshop Modules available to Companies from Small Business to the Corporate Arena that can be standard or specially designed to meet individual needs. Topics include Sales, Marketing, Leadership, Personal Development, Customer Servicing, Goals Programming Time Management, Organisation, Communication, Motivation, Success Principles, Problem Solving, and many other related business skills. 

The Principal himself does the actual fact-finding interviews to identify needs and content design, and the delivery and follow-up.
